The MCU Timeline (The Infinity Saga)

The Infinity Saga - MCU Timeline

A few notes regarding this project.

  • According to Jon Watts, the director of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Marvel Studios has a physical scroll which contains a timeline of the MCU starting at the beginning of time.

  • The design of this timeline emulates a similar timeline published by Marvel Studios in 2012 prior to the release of The Avengers. The idea is that the actual physical scroll is designed similarly.

  • In most instances, approximations after important events (e.g. “2 Years After New York") or general time frames (e.g. “Summer 2024”) are used instead of exact dates.

  • Since the focus of the Infinity Saga are the Infinity Stones, each stone is highlighted in it’s color to emphasize their appearance on the timeline.

  • In terms of canonicity, only the films, one-shots, and official MCU comic tie-ins are included

    • This does not include any of the TV shows except for a minor section in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. prior to Avengers: Age of Ultron

  • Unfortunately, there are continuity errors that can not be reconciled with all the information, many have tried. In my opinion, the main offender is when the events of Iron Man take place (2008 vs 2009 vs 2010). I have chosen to stick with Iron Man taking place in 2010 since it lines up better with the rest of the timeline. Therefore I disregarded Vision’s statement in Civil War: “In the 8 years since Mr. Stark announced himself as Iron Man” as well as the “8 Years Later” title card in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

As the Multiverse Saga begins, the timeline will be updated to include Phase 4 and beyond.
