  • The Gungeon is located on the planet Gunymede.

It was created by The Gunslinger, a legendary gunfighter and wizard. Fearing that the ways of guns would replace the old magics, he constructed a fortress with a mine underneath to extract black powder from the planet for his experiments. He also hired a family of gunsmiths to create weaponry for him to enchant.

One day the Great Bullet struck the Gungeon, killing the Gunslinger and led to the creation of the Lich i.e. the dead Gunslinger.

Once obtaining the Bullet That Can Kill The Past, the gungeoneer can shoot themselves with the Gun That Can Kill The Past where they will return to a moment in their past and rewrite history i.e. “kill the past”.
